My artwork is in the shape of a bird flying out of a block of wood. My artwork has two curved symmetrical wings that come out of the two sides of the wood. The head is in the shape of a curved beak that also comes out the top of the wood, it then connects to the wings which in turn connects to the tail which is in the shape of a curved triangle with the point sticking into the block.

I created my artwork by making the outline of the eagle by bending wire then placing the ends into the block of wood. I then pulled a stocking over the wire and put three thin layers of plaster on the stockings. When the plaster dried, I sanded it with 240 grit sandpaper to make in nice and smooth. My artwork displays beauty through the majestic likeness of a bird or an eagle. I then took it down to the very basics of what defines an eagle by only making the wings head and tail. It shows beauty through the symmetry and soft edges that appeals to our eyes.

My goal for this art work was to make it appear as if the bird was flying out of the block but its up to the audience to decide what type of bird it is because all birds are beautiful, majestic and free. I am proud of my final artwork because it turned out a lot better than I expected and portrays beauty.
