Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran College was the fourth Lutheran School in the Northern Territory and the second in the Top End prior to the merge with St Andrew Lutheran School in January 2015. It has grown from a small group of 18 students who commenced in January 1998 to now having an enrolment of over 1,000.
Need for quality education
The concept for the school emerged in late 1995 and led to the forming of a School Task Force made up of members from both Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran Church Palmerston and St Andrew Lutheran Church Nightcliff. This group recognised from its beginning the need for alternative education for the growing Palmerston community.
Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran College established a Junior School on the corner of Temple Tce and Emery Ave in Gray, a suburb in the heart of Palmerston. Title for the 2.2 hectare block was granted in January 1997.
Middle and Senior School developments
In January 2007 Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran College was extended to Year 8 and split into two sub-schools – Junior and Middle. In 2008, the Middle School moved to a new campus that was established in Howard Springs on the corner of Whitewood Rd and Kundook Pl. In 2009, a Senior School was also opened at the Howard Springs Campus.
Merge with St Andrew Lutheran School
Our third campus was established in January 2015, when Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ merged with St Andrew Lutheran School in Leanyer. The campus was renamed 'Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran College' in line with the other campuses in Palmerston and Howard Springs, and services ELC through to Year 5 students.
The College now consists of three Junior Schools (located in Palmerston, Howard Springs and Leanyer) as well as the Howard Springs Middle/Senior School. It is incorporated as the Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran College NT Inc, and is managed under the auspices of the Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran Church congregation. Good ÁñÁ«³ÉÈËappÏÂÔØ Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the parish of the Top End Lutheran Church, which is itself part of the Lutheran Church of Australia.
